Phoenix May Brunch

Brunch is Calling!

Get ready to join Brown Skin Brunchin’ this month at Café Lalibela at 12:00 PM for a memorable brunch experience!

Café Lalibela’s menu is a testament to the depth and diversity of Ethiopian cuisine. Each dish is crafted with care, using time-honored recipes that have been passed down through generations. The menu features a wide range of options, from hearty meat stews like doro wat (spicy chicken stew) and key sega (spicy beef) to flavorful vegan dishes like misir wat (spiced lentil stew), fosolia (green beans and carrots), and gomen (collard greens).

One of the restaurant’s most beloved offerings is its injera—a spongy, slightly tangy flatbread that serves as the foundation of every Ethiopian meal. Café Lalibela offers injera in two forms: one made from a mix of teff, barley, and wheat, and another made from 100% teff, which is gluten-free. This attention to detail ensures that every guest can enjoy an authentic Ethiopian dining experience, regardless of dietary preferences.

The restaurant also offers combination platters, such as the Lalibela Deluxe and Vegan Deluxe for parties of two, and the Lalibela Exclusive and Vegan Exclusive for larger groups. These platters allow guests to sample a variety of dishes, making them perfect for sharing and for those new to Ethiopian cuisine.

Peace and Love Brown Skin Beauties, I am Juanita; Co-Ambassador of Brown Skin Brunchin’ - Phoenix.I joined Brown Skin Brunchin because I love supporting Black and Brown comradery and spaces. Being an Arizona native, I came to realize that we don't see many diverse events promoted in the state, and even less Brown Skin Women focused community events, so I hope to find a space to socialize, enjoy good food and find tribe and community with like-minded women in Arizona.Born and raised in Phoenix and the East Valley of Arizona, I have recently spread my wings and lived briefly in Tampa, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada. Home is where the heart is, but I see myself eventually retiring somewhere tropical year around, once all of my boys are grown-up and out the house.Mom of 5 boys (Elijah, Joshua, Joseph, Jonathan and Zion), I spend most of my time with my heartbeats in human form, reading a book or meditating, or traveling as much as I can. I work from home for a local Infertility Specialist, and this allows me to homeschool my youngest 2 sons. I love to travel and am an avid foodie, willing to travel some miles for a good meal.I look forward to forming new bonds and enjoying some good food!
