Michelle Mitchell: A Dynamic Leader in Empowering Women, Community, and Digital Media

With a career marked by innovation, community service, and digital media expertise, Michelle Mitchell has established herself as a force in empowering women of color and advocating for social change. As the Founder of The Phenomenal Women Group, an online support and empowerment community with over 100,000 active members on Facebook, Michelle has dedicated years to fostering a space where women uplift one another, share resources, and celebrate success.

In addition to her leadership roles, Michelle is the publisher of two online magazines, where she amplifies stories that matter, showcases diverse voices, and provides a platform for dialogue on topics that impact women and communities of color. Her background in public relations and social media strategy has been instrumental in building these publications, allowing her to engage with a wide audience and inspire positive change.

Michelle’s accomplishments have been recognized on a national level. In 2023, she received the prestigious Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award from New Generation in Action, under the patronage of Her Royal Majesty Queen Angelique-Monet of Eti-Oni.

Her technical foundation in Computer Systems Technology led her to consult for top-tier companies like Credit Suisse First Boston, SONY, Goldman Sachs, and Yahoo, Inc. This expertise, combined with her PR and media skills, makes her a powerful communicator and advocate.

In 2019, Michelle was selected as one of only 1,000 participants for NASA Social, an exclusive program connecting enthusiasts with NASA’s missions. This opportunity aligns with her passion for STEM and commitment to encouraging Black girls in science and technology, further strengthened by her partnerships with the Planetary Society and the National Space Society.

Michelle’s community involvement includes roles on the board of the Bisila Bokoko African Literacy Project and as Vice President of the Long Beach, NY Branch NAACP. She’s active in the Junior League of Long Island, NCNW Long Island Cross County Section, New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce, International Society of Female Professionals, and the African American Chamber of Commerce of Long Island. As the Long Island Ambassador for Brown Skin Brunchin’, Michelle brings together women for shared experiences, connection, and empowerment.

Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Michelle finds joy in writing, sharing knowledge online, and spending time with family and friends, especially over brunch. Passionate, driven, and community-focused, Michelle Mitchell continues to inspire and lead in her mission to create spaces where women can thrive, connect, and be heard.
