Hi, I’m Carla Smith — entrepreneur, author, and community builder with a passion for empowering others to level up in life and business. I’m the proud Owner & CEO of REESIE’S Marvelous Hats, https://www.bethatinahat.com/ the first Black woman-owned inspirational hat store in Massachusetts, and the author of Leveling Above The Clicks, my personal journey from pop-up tables to a thriving storefront.

Beyond the business, I’m deeply committed to mentorship and service. I’m a mentor with EforAll and a volunteer with Build.org, where I support aspiring entrepreneurs—especially youth and women of color—by helping them develop the tools and confidence to chase their dreams. I also use my storefront as a community hub, providing space for local artists and authors to showcase their work and connect with new audiences.

Whether I’m mentoring, hosting workshops, or cheering on other business owners, my mission is always the same: to uplift, inspire, and remind others to “Be That in a Hat.”
